Use built-in, custom, and AI-generated variables to make your Genta automation reusable across cases and suites.

How to Use Variables in Genta

Variables let you avoid hardcoded values and make test automation reusable across cases and suites.

Variable types in Genta

  • Built-in variables: system-provided values (dates, random values, etc.).

  • Custom variables: values you create and control.

  • AI-generated variables: values/documents generated from prompts.

Open Variables

  1. Go to Variables from the sidebar.

  2. Use filters/search to find built-in or custom variables.

Create a custom variable

  1. In Variables, switch to Custom.

  2. Open Static and click New Variable.

  3. Set:

    • Display Name

    • Data Type

    • Value (optional)

    • Color (optional)

  4. Click Create.

Use variable tokens

  • Built-in variables use @@... tokens.

  • Custom variables use ##... tokens.

Use these tokens in your case guidance/inputs where dynamic values are needed.

Update or delete variables

  1. Select a variable from the list.

  2. Edit details in the right panel.

  3. Click Save (or Delete for custom variables).

Best practices

  • Prefer descriptive display names.

  • Keep data types accurate (Text, Number, Date, Json, etc.).

  • Use custom variables for stable reusable values.

  • Use built-in variables for runtime-generated values.
